The title of presentation: Wastewater management and UWWTD implementation in the Danube region
As one of the most international river basins in the world, the Danube River Basin is of transboundary significance, and transnational cooperation plays a crucial role in the management of its water resources. Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive (UWWTD), presents one entry point for regional cooperation and improvement of water resources management in the Danube basin. Because of its centrality to compliance with EU laws, and in particular the Water Framework Directive, all countries have an incentive to understand its impact. The World Bank led work aimed to assess results of the UWWTD implementation in the Danube Region, taking into account environmental, economic, sustainability and affordability aspects, all with aim to increase efficiency of Wastewater management in the region.
