Joao Paulo Lobo-Ferreira, Doktor-Ingenieur by the Technische Universität Berlin, Germany, is Principal Research Officier with Habitation Degree in the Board of Directors of Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil (LNEC), Lisbon, Portugal, for International Relations and Coordinator of LNEC Research Partnerships Support Office. EIP Water AG 128 MARtoMARket leader. Member of the Purtuguese National Water Council CNA. As Head of LNEC Groundwater Division (1990-2013), coordinated more than twenty-five National and International research projects, and is author of more than 300 publications. Member of the Portuguese Water Resources Association General Council as President of Directors 1992-94. Awarded the “First Prize of Research Works on the Environment” by the Portuguese Secretary of State of the Environment and Natural Resources. Developer of several mathematical, e. g. BALSEQ sequential daily water balance model and the GALDIT index vulnerability model for the assessment of sea water intrusion into coastal aquifer, both being applied worldwide.
